A prosthesis inspired by artificial intelligence (AI) has enabled Ma Yuanjiang, a survivor of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, to hold things again.
Development of the smart mechanical hand is based on a combination of electromyography (EMG) and AI. Wearing the smart device, Ma is now able to type on keyboards and hold other things. According to Sichuan Daily, Ma is the first person to try the new technology in the country.
The M8.0 quake jolted Wenchuan, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on May 12, 2008, claiming over 69,000 lives.
